I have been working for five years in private practice.  Before moving to outpatient therapy, I worked 12 years at a therapeutic day school that specialized in treatment for youth struggling with severe mental and emotional disabilities. I have a clinical license and master's degree in social work and through years of practice has had extensive experience in working with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Self Esteem, OCD and Self-Harm. I also have significant experience working with IEPs, as well as with school districts providing accommodations for students with special emotional, learning, or behavioral needs.

My passion is to help people discover more about themselves in order to identify what skills they need to function at their full potential, as well as the path to get there. I utilize a strengths perspective in my work in order to help people discover their strengths and build upon them. I believe in a client centered approach and meeting the person where they are in order to come alongside them on their journey to healing. Because the interpersonal relationship is very important in therapy, I

am passionate about building a relationship based on trust, safety, and understanding. It is my hope that clients will improve their self-awareness, gain necessary skills to cope, identify necessary support systems, and utilize those outside of therapy to experience more satisfaction and peace in life.

If requested, I can integrate faith based counseling into sessions.

My educational background includes obtaining an MA in Counselor Education from Northeastern Illinois University and post master's certification from National Louis University.

My professional background includes counseling adolescents, adults and families in a variety of clinical and educational settings.   In addition, I have served as an Adjunct Faculty educator for adult students pursuing an MS degree in the counseling field.

Part of my personal mission as a Counselor is to support my clients while gently challenging them to strive for what will bring them satisfaction in life.  In my experience, much of the time people can only begin to grasp their potential.  By utilizing a strengths-based approach,  I enjoy giving clients the opportunity to explore the many possibilities and options to help them reach their goals.

I believe it is extremely important for all people to have a safe, non-judgmental, authentic space to feel validated to heal and help bring balance to their life. I have an eclectic style to provide client-centered therapy, but often work with several different holistic and trauma-informed modalities to find the right fit for teens and adults.

My approach is relationship-based and strength-based and relies on attunement with the individual.  I have more than 10 years of experience working in the field of mental health and the more “severe” issues such as Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), attachment issues and histories involving severe abuse.  My background includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, poor body image, cultural/identity development, and substance use. I also address concerns around healthy sexuality, pre- and post- partum issues, and pregnancy. I have significant experience in counseling military veterans and law enforcement officers, and I myself am a former correctional officer.

Certified in Clinical Trauma Therapy (CCTP), Clinical Anxiety Treatment (CCATP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Life Coach certification, and am a former teacher. My passion is to assist people in their journey to healing, wholeness and optimal health. I have worked in a variety of settings with many different populations. I love working with couples, families, singles, men, women, children and those with special needs. I also offer Christian counseling for those who would like to incorporate their faith into the counseling process.

I take a strengths based and client centered approach as I believe that you have within you the ability to discover what you need, with a counselor along side you to facilitate the process. I also can provide skills and tools to use along the way from techniques developed through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My goal is to provide the best space for you, with compassion and guidance, to bring about all that you hope for, to live your best life now.
